Master of Illusion Ed Alonzo gets schooled by CW hosts

Ed Alonzo
Jon & Katie Interview Magician Ed Alonzo and show of some of their own tricks.

CW23 has taken Jon and I to a lot of different places and introduced us to a lot of different people. However, never did I think I would get the chance to fulfill my goal of becoming a magician's assistant! Not only that, but never did Jon think he'd be able to live out his dream of becoming Zack Morris! All was made possible when we coasted out to Valleyfair to hang with the "Misfit of Magic", Ed Alonzo.

If you recognize Ed it is for a good reason because he has a phenomenal track record as a comedic magician. Firstly, he took it to The Max in the 90's hit TV show l playing the owner of the main character's favorite hangout. He always had a life lesson for the kids and found a way to teach them through humor and magic tricks. Today Ed still finds himself playing the role of Max, especially when TV stations force him to (wink wink), and whenever there is a reason to make 90's kids nostalgic. For example, the recent opening of the Saved by the Bell themed restaurant in Chicago. TIMEOUT. Yes, you heard that correctly, The Max has been brought back to life and you can actually dine on AC Sliders:

Over the years Ed has appeared on numerous television shows and movies outside of Saved by the Bell, including Modern Family, America's Next Top Model, How I Met Your Mother, A Taste of Magic, Full House, and most importantly Masters of Illusion right here on CW! Ed brings a lot to the show including some interesting escape tricks and he even gets his pet ducks involved. Tune in!

Ed is no stranger to the music scene either working with the likes of Katy Perry, Usher, and he even took his magic skills on tour with none other than Britney Spears to perform a magic production number during her Circus tour in 2009. Plus, he created the illusions behind Michael Jackson's "This Is It" concert in London.

One look at his website and it's clear he's not joking around when it comes to his magical comedy either, winning several awards throughout his career.

"While in his teens, he became one of the youngest comedy/magicians ever to perform at the world famous Magic Castle in Hollywood. Ed Alonzo went on to win the coveted STAGE MAGICIAN OF THE YEAR for two consecutive years, COMEDY MAGICIAN OF THE YEAR for another two consecutive years and in 2010 Ed was named "Magician of the Year", all from the internationally recognized Academy of Magical Arts. Ed is also the recipient of three WORLD MAGIC AWARDS presented to him on MY-network TV award shows."

For aspiring magicians, Ed even has his own line of Fantasma magic sets in stores throughout the country. One more fun fact? He's best friends with Neil Patrick Harris. What?!

Currently you can find Ed performing his Psycho Circus act 3-4 times a day, 6 days a week at the Galaxy Theatre at Valleyfair through August. 23, 2015. Watch our interview and don't forget you can also see him in action on Masters of Illusion Fridays at 7pm on CW!
